The GA1 occurrence is located on the eastern side of Flores Island, approximately 2 kilometres west of the entrance to Matilda Inlet.

The area is underlain by the granodiorite phase of a multiphase Eocene Catface Intrusion. Other phases are quartz-diorite, granite and aplite.

Locally, fractured granodiorite hosts a quartz vein filling fractures. The vein and host rock contain disseminated pyrite. In 1981, samples of a mineralized quartz vein assayed up to 0.51 gram per tonne gold and 10.3 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 9658).

In 1969, Falconbridge completed a program of silt and soil sampling and the area as the Flo group. In 1972, Tri-Con Exploration Surveys completed a program of geological mapping, geochemical sampling and a ground magnetic survey on the area as JR claims. In 1972, Western Mines completed a program of soil sampling on the area. In 1974, Wesfrob Mines completed a program of geological mapping on the Flo claims. In 1979 and 1981, Clear Mines completed programs of geological mapping, rock and soil sampling and airborne geophysical surveys on the area.

In 2012, Catface Copper Mines undertook a soil sampling program on their Flores Island Project in an area 2 to 3 kilometres northwest of the GA1 occurrence.
